The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack system built around two Intel Xeon E5-2683 v3 processors running at 2.0GHz with a 3.0GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU delivers 14 cores for a total of 28 threads. The platform targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, VDI, databases or HPC data nodes.

Rail-mounted chassis with hot-swap power

The server ships with ready rails and a front bezel for standard rack installation. Two redundant 750 Watt platinum-efficiency power supplies are hot-swappable, allowing replacement without downtime. Drive bays and the PERC H730 controller support hot-swap SATA and SAS media. Cable routing for the dual 10Gb SFP+ and dual 1GbE ports on the X520/I350 daughter card should be planned before sliding the unit into the rack.

Verify DDR4 registered ECC and 2.5-inch bay count

The system arrives with 128GB of DDR4 2133MHz registered ECC memory across eight 16GB modules, leaving 16 of 24 slots free for expansion up to 1.5TB.
