This new DELL PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack-mount server fitted with two Intel Xeon E5-2699 v4 processors running at 2.2 GHz with a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides 22 cores for a total of 44 threads across the dual-socket Intel C610 platform. The system ships with 512 GB of DDR4-2400 registered ECC memory installed across 16 DIMM slots, leaving eight slots free for expansion up to the 1.5 TB maximum.

Virtualisation and Database Focus

The server suits organisations running virtualised workloads, database clusters or high-performance computing nodes that benefit from high core counts and large memory capacity. The PERC H730 RAID controller with 1 GB cache supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. Buyers who require more than eight 2.5-inch drive bays, a single-socket design or a different network interface mix should evaluate other platforms.
