The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack-mount server designed for organisations that need dense compute and storage in a standard cabinet. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor at 1.9 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 memory, providing a balanced foundation for virtualisation, database or file-serving workloads.

Build integration

The chassis supports up to eight 3.5-inch hot-plug SAS or SATA drives, with two 1 TB 7.2 K drives and a PERC H330 12 Gbps RAID controller already installed for RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 or 60. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies keep the system running during a module swap, while up to seven PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot leave room for additional networking or acceleration cards.

Included accessories

A DVD-ROM drive is fitted for media-based installation or recovery tasks. Remote management is handled by iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller, shipping in the Express tier with optional upgrades to Enterprise and vFlash media. The Matrox G200eR2 video controller with 8 MB cache provides basic console output without consuming a PCIe slot.
