The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rackmount system built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processor running at 1.9GHz. It ships with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a Perc H330 RAID controller supporting RAID 0/1/5/10/50/60. Dual 750W redundant power supplies provide failover protection. The chassis accommodates up to eight 3.5-inch hot-plug SAS or SATA drives. Remote management is handled by iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller.

Eight 3.5-inch hot-plug drive bays

Storage capacity hinges on the eight front-accessible 3.5-inch bays that accept SAS or SATA drives in hot-plug carriers. The H330 controller delivers 12Gbps SAS connectivity and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 for redundancy or performance. No drives or trays are included, so buyers must supply their own media. Maximum raw capacity reaches 64TB when the bays are fully populated.

Redundant 750W supplies and iDRAC8

Two 750W hot-swap power supplies share the load and maintain operation if one unit fails, reducing downtime in rack environments. The Matrox G200 graphics subsystem draws minimal power for basic video output. iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller enables remote monitoring of temperatures, fan speeds and power consumption without needing an operating system. A DVD-ROM drive is fitted for legacy media access.
