The Dell PowerEdge R730XD fits twelve 3.5-inch hot-plug drives in a 2U rack chassis. A single Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processor at 1.9GHz and 64GB of DDR4 memory handle general compute tasks. Dual 750W redundant power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails. The H330 RAID controller manages the installed three 1TB 7.2K SATA drives.

The Perc H330 controller provides twelve 12Gbps ports and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across the drive bays. Three Dell 1TB 7.2K 6Gbps enterprise SATA drives ship installed with trays, giving immediate protected capacity. The controller manages redundancy and rebuilds without host CPU overhead. Additional drive configurations are available to fill the remaining nine bays.

DDR4 memory limited to 64GB by single processor

The platform offers 24 DIMM slots for DDR4 up to 2400MT/s, yet the single installed processor caps usable memory at 64GB. Adding a second compatible Xeon would unlock the full 1536GB maximum across all slots. PCIe 3.0 expansion provides up to six slots plus a dedicated RAID card slot. Networking defaults to four 1GbE ports with optional 10GbE daughter cards.
