The Dell PowerEdge R730XD fits twelve 3.5-inch hot-plug bays in a two-unit rack height. Dual Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processors at 1.9 GHz and 64 GB of DDR4 memory provide a balanced platform for archive, backup or virtualisation workloads that prioritise capacity over raw compute density.

Two 750 W redundant hot-swap power supplies keep the system running during a module failure. Six PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated RAID card slot leave room for additional network or storage controllers. The H330 controller manages up to twelve SATA or SAS drives with RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 or 60, freeing the CPU from parity calculations.

Thermals, noise and power draw in normal use

Redundant power supplies and hot-plug drive carriers are designed for continuous operation in a cooled rack aisle.
