The PowerEdge R730xd is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Xeon E5-2699 v3 processors, each with 18 cores running at 2.3 GHz and a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. It targets midsize and large organisations running databases, virtual desktop infrastructure, data warehouses or high-performance computing nodes. The system ships with 256 GB of DDR4 2133 MHz registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules.

24-bay storage headroom with H730 RAID

Twenty-four 2.5-inch drive bays connect to a Dell PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache, supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through modes. Two 400 GB SATA SSDs are installed, leaving twenty-two bays open for additional SAS or SATA drives. Memory capacity scales to 1.5 TB across 24 slots, so compute-heavy workloads can grow without a platform change.

Redundant 750 W platinum power and remote management

Dual hot-swap 750 W platinum-efficiency power supplies provide N+1 redundancy for continuous operation. The Intel X520/I350 daughter card delivers two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports for flexible network connectivity. iDRAC 8 Enterprise enables full out-of-band management, monitoring and remote console access. Ready rails and a front bezel are included for rack mounting.
