The Dell PowerEdge R730xd is a 2U rack server built with two Intel Xeon E5-2640 v3 processors. Each CPU delivers 8 cores at 2.6 GHz with a 3.4 GHz turbo frequency. The system targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, e-commerce platforms, virtual desktop infrastructure, databases and high-performance computing data nodes.

24-Bay SATA/SAS Chassis Limits Expansion to 12 Gb/s

The 24-bay 2.5-inch drive chassis connects through a Dell PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache. The controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through at 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA speeds. Network connectivity uses an Intel X520/I350 daughter card providing two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports. Remote management is handled by iDRAC 8 Enterprise.

512 GB DDR4 with Headroom to 1.5 TB

Sixteen 32 GB DDR4 2133 MHz registered ECC modules fill 16 of 24 memory slots, leaving eight slots open for expansion up to the 1.5 TB maximum.
