Three 300 GB 15K SAS drives ship installed behind a Perc H730 controller with 1 GB cache. Redundant 750 W supplies and a DVD-ROM complete the baseline configuration.

SAS topology and PCIe 3.0 ceiling

The backplane accepts SAS or SATA drives at 6 Gbps per port; the H730 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across all twelve bays, but the controller and backplane do not exceed 12 Gbps aggregate. Six PCIe 3.0 slots plus the dedicated RAID slot provide expansion, yet total lane budget is capped by the C610 chipset and the single-processor installation. Network I/O defaults to four 1 GbE ports on the daughter card; 10 GbE options exist but are not populated.

Slide rails and cable routing

The chassis slides into standard square-hole racks on included rails; allow 26.8 inches of depth behind the front posts. Hot-plug drive carriers latch tool-free, and the H730 cable harness is pre-routed, but the single CPU means twelve memory slots remain empty — populating them later requires matched DDR4 modules and a second processor kit. iDRAC8 Express is active on the dedicated management port; Enterprise features and vFlash media need licence keys applied before remote KVM or virtual media will function.
