The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 fits into a 2U rack slot and ships with two Intel Gold 6132 processors, each running at 2.6 GHz with 14 cores and 19.25 MB cache. It is aimed at IT teams that need dense compute for hypervisor hosts, database nodes or high-performance application tiers. The system arrives new with firmware updated and all components tested.

Eight-bay 2.5-inch chassis

The front panel holds eight 2.5-inch drive bays populated by 300 GB 10K SAS disks behind an H730P RAID controller. Dual 1100 W power supplies provide redundancy, while the integrated Intel X550 network daughter card delivers two 10 Gb RJ45 and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports. Remote management is handled by iDRAC9 Enterprise, and the box includes bezel, rails and power cords.

64 GB DDR4 across four DIMM slots determines

Installed memory is 64 GB of DDR4 organised as four 16 GB modules at 2666 MT/s, leaving the remaining DIMM slots available for expansion up to the platform maximum.
