The PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rackmount server fitted with two Intel Xeon Gold 6134 processors running at 3.2 GHz with eight cores each. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory installed across four 16 GB modules. The platform targets virtualisation hosts, database nodes and compute clusters that need balanced CPU and memory density in a standard rack footprint.

Sustained load on 16 cores and 64 GB DDR4

Both Xeon Gold 6134 CPUs maintain a 3.2 GHz base frequency across all eight cores and can reach 3.7 GHz turbo when thermal headroom allows. The Intel C620 chipset and 24 DIMM slots support up to 3 TB of DDR4 for future expansion. Dual 750 W platinum-efficiency hot-swap power supplies deliver redundant power during continuous operation without interruption.

PERC H730P storage and quad-port networking

Eight 800 GB SATA SSDs connect through the PERC H730P 2 GB controller with battery-backed cache, supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through. An Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports for flexible network topology. iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides dedicated remote management, while included ready rails and a front bezel simplify rack installation.
