Dual Xeon Platinum 8260L Server

The Dell PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack-mount server built for virtualisation, database and compute workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8260L processors running at 2.4 GHz, each providing 24 cores and 35.75 MB cache. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across two 16 GB modules. The chassis supports up to eight 3.5-inch SATA drive bays.

PERC H730P RAID controller

Storage is managed by a Dell PERC H730P RAID controller connected through the SATA interface. The controller supports hardware RAID levels for redundancy and performance. No drives are installed; the eight hot-plug bays accept 3.5-inch SATA hard drives or SSDs. Network connectivity includes a dual-port 10 GbE 562T adapter for high-throughput links.

Dual 750 W power supplies

Redundant 750 W power supplies share the load and maintain operation if one unit fails. The system includes iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management for out-of-band monitoring and firmware updates. Integrated graphics handle console output without a discrete GPU. The server measures 36 by 24 by 10 inches and weighs 40 pounds.
