The Dell PowerEdge R740xd packs twenty-four 2.5-inch drive bays into a 2U rack chassis. Dual Xeon Gold 6134 processors provide sixteen cores at 3.2 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo. One hundred twenty-eight gigabytes of DDR4 registered ECC memory supports virtualisation and database workloads. The PERC H730P controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the installed drives.

Sustained Multi-Thread Throughput

Two eight-core CPUs maintain 3.2 GHz base frequency under continuous load, while the 2.4 TB 10K SAS disks deliver steady random I/O for software-defined storage. Redundant 1100 watt platinum power supplies keep both sockets and all twenty-four spindles fed without throttling. The X520/I350 daughter card adds two 10 Gb SFP+ and two 1 GbE ports for persistent network streams.

Serviceable Rack Integration

Tool-less ready rails let technicians slide the chassis in and out for drive or memory changes without unplugging cables. Hot-swap SAS bays and redundant power supplies allow single-component replacement while the server stays online. iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides remote console, power control and firmware updates over a dedicated management port.
