The PowerEdge R740xd is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors running at 2.1GHz with 12 cores each. It targets organisations that need dense compute and storage in a single chassis for virtualisation, software-defined storage or VDI workloads.

256GB DDR4 and 24-Bay SAS Storage

Eight 32GB DDR4 modules provide 256GB of registered ECC memory with headroom to expand across 24 slots up to 3TB. Twenty-four 300GB 10K SAS drives sit behind a PERC H730P controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, delivering high IOPS for mixed read-write workloads.

Redundant Power and Quad-Port Networking

Dual 1100W platinum power supplies and hot-swap drive bays keep the system running during component failure. An Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1GbE and two 10Gb SFP+ ports, while iDRAC9 Enterprise provides dedicated remote management. Rails and bezel are included for immediate rack mounting.

During POST the H730P BIOS will list each physical drive; you can also open the iDRAC9 Enterprise web interface and check the storage overview to confirm all 24 drives appear in the expected RAID configuration.

Does the shipment include the X520/I350 quad-port network daughter card and the ready rails, or must I order them separately?
