The Dell PowerEdge R940 is a 3U rack server populated with four Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 processors. Each CPU runs at 2.1 GHz with 24 cores and a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. The system ships with 64 GB of DDR4-2666 registered ECC memory across 48 slots and two 800 GB SATA SSDs managed by a PERC H730P RAID controller.

The quad-socket design supports heavy virtualisation, in-memory databases and real-time analytics.
