The Dell PowerEdge R940 packs four Intel Xeon Gold 6148 processors, each running at 2.4 GHz with 20 cores and a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory are installed across 48 available slots, supporting up to 6 TB total capacity. The system fits in a 3U rack enclosure and includes ready rails plus a front bezel for immediate deployment.

Redundant 1600 W platinum power supplies

Dual hot-swap 1600 watt platinum-efficiency power supplies deliver redundant power with hot-swap capability. The 3U chassis directs airflow across the four CPU sockets, the Intel C620 chipset and the memory risers to maintain stable temperatures during typical enterprise workloads. Acoustic output remains within data-centre norms for a quad-socket platform of this density.

Sustained throughput with hardware RAID and 10 GbE

Eight 600 GB 10K SAS drives connect to a PERC H730P 2 GB controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. A quad-port Intel X520/I350 daughter card provides two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links for continuous high-bandwidth traffic. iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables remote monitoring and firmware updates without interrupting long-running compute jobs.
