Enterprise 5U Tower Server

The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server built for virtualization, database hosting and software-defined storage. Two Intel Xeon Silver 4210 processors deliver twenty cores at 2.2 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. One hundred twenty-eight gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory is installed across four 32 GB modules. The chassis accepts up to sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays and supports a maximum memory capacity of 1 TB across sixteen slots.

Hot-swap bays and redundant power

Sixteen front-access 2.5-inch trays allow SAS, SATA and SSD drives to be swapped without downtime. The PERC HBA330 controller provides 12 Gb/s connectivity for the storage array. Dual 750 W platinum-efficiency power supplies operate in a redundant hot-swap configuration. Integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet handles network traffic, while iDRAC 9 Express gives remote management access. Front bezel and ready rails are not included.

LGA 3647 platform constraints

The LGA 3647 socket limits CPU upgrades to the Intel Xeon Scalable family supported by this generation. Maximum memory reaches 1 TB using DDR4 ECC registered DIMMs only; other DDR generations are physically and electrically incompatible. Expansion relies on PCI Express slots for additional RAID, networking or GPU cards. Buyers needing more than sixteen drive bays or a different memory standard will require a different server platform.
