Precision T7810 Xeon workstation

The Dell Precision T7810 is a tower workstation built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 processor with ten cores running at 2.3 GHz. Hyperthreading presents 20 logical threads to the operating system. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 2133 ECC memory and a 1 TB 7.2K SATA drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed and a 685 W 90 % efficient power supply drives the system.

Upgrade path from older Xeon towers

The ten-core E5-2650 v3 replaces earlier four- to eight-core Xeon E5 v1 or v2 CPUs and doubles the thread count to 20. The jump is worth it when workloads scale across many threads such as rendering, simulation or heavy multitasking. Memory capacity can grow from the installed 32 GB to 256 GB across eight DIMM slots in quad-channel mode. The Intel C612 chipset provides six SATA 6 Gb/s ports with software RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 for faster or redundant storage arrays.

Build integration and expansion

The tower chassis measures 16.95 by 8.5 by 20.67 inches and weighs 50 lbs. It offers two internal 3.5 inch drive bays, one external 5.25 inch bay and one slimline optical bay; a DVD-RW drive is fitted. Graphics are handled by an Nvidia NVS 310 card with 512 MB memory suited for multi-monitor office use. Five full-length and one half-length expansion slots remain open for additional GPUs, capture cards or specialised I/O. Integrated Intel I217 gigabit Ethernet provides wired networking.
