U.2 to M.2 NVMe adapter

This EN-Labs adapter converts an M.2 M-Key NVMe SSD connection to a SFF-8643 Mini SAS interface. It enables the use of 2.5" U.2 SSDs with an M.2 slot via the included SFF-8639 to SFF-8643 cable. The unit supports M.2 2260 and 2280 form factors. No drivers are required on current operating systems.

Compatibility check

Verify that your motherboard provides an M.2 M-Key slot wired for PCIe NVMe signalling. Confirm the drive you intend to use is a 2.5" U.2 NVMe device such as the Intel 750 Series, P3600 or P3700. Ensure a SATA power connector is available for the cable's power interface. The link operates at PCIe 4.0 or 3.0 speeds.

Build and daily use

The adapter board plugs directly into the M.2 slot while the 1.64FT Mini SAS cable bridges to the U.2 drive. A SATA power plug on the cable supplies the drive, so routing must reach both the M.2 socket and a power header. The SFF-8639 and SFF-8643 connectors lock securely for reliable data transfer up to 64GT/s.
