It uses a NEC chipset to deliver up to 5 Gbps total bandwidth and is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.x devices. The card draws power from the slot itself and includes a driver CD for older operating systems. Installation requires an available PCIe slot and a standard full-height bracket.

This card suits users who want to connect multiple external drives, VR headsets, cameras or input devices without opening the case again. It works with Windows 7 through 11 and Mac OS 10.8.2 or later, with native support on recent versions.
