AM5 platform with X870E chipset
The board uses the AMD X870E chipset and the AM5 socket for Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 series processors. Four 288-pin DDR5 slots support up to 256GB of unbuffered non-ECC memory in dual-channel mode. PCIe 5.0 is available on the primary x16 slot and one CPU-linked M.2 connector, while the chipset adds two further x4 slots at PCIe 4.0 and 3.0.
Tool-free latches simplify the build
M.2 EZ-Latch and PCIe EZ-Latch let you install drives and graphics cards without screws. The Wi-Fi EZ-Plug makes antenna attachment straightforward and the EZ-Debug Zone provides quick POST-code visibility. Bandwidth sharing between the top PCIe 5.0 slot and the M2B_CPU or M2C_CPU connectors means populating those M.2 sockets can reduce the graphics slot to x8, so plan device placement before fitting components.
Verify cooler clearance and power phases
The 16+2+2 phase design uses 80A smart power stages, so ensure your CPU cooler does not obstruct the VRM heatsink area. Confirm that your chassis can accommodate an ATX board with four M.2 slots, four SATA 6Gb/s ports, dual USB4, front and rear USB-C, 2.5GbE LAN and Wi-Fi 7 antennas. Memory kits rated up to 8000 MT/s are supported via AMD EXPO profiles.
