Gigastone 8400 GAME TURBO 512GB SATA SSD

This 2.5-inch internal solid-state drive uses 3D NAND flash and a SATA III interface to deliver sequential reads up to 560 MBps and writes up to 530 MBps. It is built as a direct replacement for mechanical hard drives in laptops, desktops and ultrabooks. The 7 mm z-height fits standard drive bays and most thin-and-light chassis.

Sustained random 4 KB performance

Random 4 KB read and write IOPS are each rated at 95000 and 90000 respectively, and the same figures are quoted for sustained operation. These numbers determine whether the drive can keep small-file workloads responsive during OS boot, application launch and game asset streaming. The 256 GB terabytes-written rating and 1.5 million-hour MTBF provide the endurance context for that workload.

Behaviour under sustained load

An SLC cache layer absorbs burst writes at the quoted sequential speeds, then the drive settles to the native 3D NAND throughput once the cache fills. Idle power draw is a maximum of 30 mW, so thermal output remains low during extended sessions without a heatsink. The drive maintains its sustained random IOPS as long as the workload stays within the TBW budget.
