The GLOTRENDS SA3824A adds 24 SATA III 6Gbps ports through a PCIe 3.0 x8 link using four ASM1166 controllers. It is designed for desktop PCs, servers or NAS units that need to address many drives at once.

Compatibility check

The card occupies a PCIe x16 slot but operates at x8 electrical speed, so the slot must provide at least x8 lanes. No hardware RAID is supported; software RAID or storage pools must be configured in the operating system. The board does not support OS booting and Windows XP is not compatible.
