Moving to this platform adds a second socket and raises the core count to 16 physical cores with 32 threads via hyper-threading. Buyers who need more than 36 total cores or persistent memory options will need a different chassis.

Build integration and expansion

The server occupies one rack unit and provides eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays, leaving six bays free for additional SAS or SATA drives. The H240 controller handles both 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA devices without a separate RAID card. Memory can scale to 1 TB using DDR4 modules up to 2400 MT/s, limited by the installed processors. No operating system is included, so the installer must supply one.
