It targets small-business workloads, virtualisation hosts, or edge deployments that need balanced compute and storage in a compact chassis.

Upgrade path from single-socket limits

The system board accepts a second Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 CPU, doubling core count to 20 physical cores and 40 threads. Memory scales to 1 TB across 16 DIMM slots when both sockets are populated, making the jump worthwhile for databases or container clusters that outgrow the single-socket configuration.

SAS interface and drive-bay constraints

The Smart HBA H240 controller provides 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA connectivity with RAID 0, 1, and 5 support. Eight 2.5-inch SFF bays limit raw capacity unless larger drives are used, and the 12 Gb SAS backplane caps throughput per drive, so all-flash arrays will not reach their peak sequential speeds.
