1U Rack Server

The HP ProLiant DL360 G9 is a single-socket 1U rack server built around a Xeon E5-2643 v3 six-core processor running at 3.4 GHz. It ships with 48 GB of DDR4 memory and two 500 GB 7.2 K SATA drives managed by a B140i software RAID controller. Redundant hot-swap 500 W power supplies are included. The unit is new and sold without an operating system.

Build Integration

The chassis occupies 1U and provides eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays, of which two are populated. The B140i controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 across SATA devices only. A Matrox G200 GPU handles basic video output. The Intel C610 chipset and 24 DDR4 DIMM slots (12 per processor) allow a second Xeon to be added later, freeing PCIe slots for additional storage or networking cards.

Capacity and Headroom

Installed memory is 48 GB and the platform maximum is 3 TB using 64 GB modules at up to 2400 MT/s, so headroom for large datasets is substantial. The two 500 GB drives deliver 1 TB raw capacity; RAID 1 mirrors for redundancy while RAID 5 or 10 requires more disks. The single six-core CPU provides 12 threads, which suits moderate virtualization or database workloads but will saturate before heavy multi-tenant environments.
