This HP ProLiant DL380 G9 is a 2U rack server fitted with one Intel Xeon E5-2643v3 six-core processor running at 3.4GHz. It ships with 128GB of DDR4 memory installed across 24 DIMM slots and a Smart Array P440 controller with 4GB flash-backed write cache. The chassis provides 24 small-form-factor drive bays and dual 500W redundant power supplies.

Check CPU socket count

The system board supports a maximum of two processors but only one is installed; adding a second Xeon will unlock the remaining 12 DIMM slots. Total memory capacity is capped at 128GB with the current configuration, so further expansion requires a processor upgrade. Verify that your rack can accommodate a 2U unit and that SAS backplane cabling matches the P440 interface.

P440 FBWC enables advanced RAID without battery

The bundled Smart Array P440 controller adds 4GB of flash-backed write cache, allowing RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 to sustain write performance during power loss. No operating system or drives are included, so you must supply SAS media and an OS licence. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics chip provides basic console output only.
