The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built for data-centre workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processor at 1.9GHz and 96GB of DDR4 ECC memory. The platform supports up to two processors and 24 DIMM slots for future expansion.

96GB DDR4 and eight SFF drive bays

Installed memory reaches the 96GB limit supported by this single-processor configuration, leaving no headroom unless a second CPU is added. Storage starts with two 600GB 15K 2.5-inch SAS drives on a Smart HBA H240ar controller that handles RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Eight SFF bays are available, with optional cages for 16 or 24 drives or NVME uplift in specific bays.

Redundant power and H240ar connectivity

Dual 500W hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy for continuous operation. The H240ar delivers 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA links to the backplane, while the Matrox G200eH2 graphics handles basic console output. No operating system is included, so the buyer supplies the software stack. Buyers needing GPU compute or fibre-channel connectivity will need a different platform.
