The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rackmount server system built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 processor with 12 cores running at 2.3 GHz. It ships with 4 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed across 24 DIMM slots. The B140i controller provides software RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 for SATA drives only. Two hot-swap 500 W redundant power supplies are included.

SATA-only RAID and eight SFF bays

The onboard B140i controller manages SATA devices exclusively and does not support SAS or NVME drives. Eight 2.5-inch small form factor drive bays are available in the front, with two drive trays and screws supplied. Additional storage configurations such as NVME bays or extra SFF cages occupy the same internal expansion areas and are not included. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics core provides 16 MB of video memory for basic console output.

Upgrade path from single-socket

This chassis supports a second Xeon E5 v3 or v4 processor to reach 24 physical cores and 3 TB of DDR4 memory across all 24 slots. Buyers who need SAS connectivity, hardware RAID acceleration or NVME boot devices must add a dedicated controller. The single CPU and 4 GB baseline suit light virtualization or file serving; heavier workloads will require memory and processor upgrades.
