Installation and Common Issues

The bundle arrives with memory and drives packaged separately, so installation of those components is required before deployment. The included rail kit simplifies rack mounting in standard cabinets. Hot-swappable redundant power supplies allow a failed unit to be replaced without shutting down the server. Care is needed when seating the DIMMs and SSD carriers to avoid bent pins or incomplete locking, which are the most frequent setup errors.

SATA Interface Limits

The four 2.5-inch SSDs connect through a SATA 6 Gb/s interface, which caps sequential throughput below the peak capability of the drives themselves. The P408i-a controller with 2 GB cache and Smart Storage Battery provides RAID acceleration but remains bound by the SATA link speed. Workloads demanding sustained throughput above this ceiling will hit a bottleneck at the storage interface rather than the processor or memory subsystem.
