The Intel Xeon Gold 5315Y is an 8-core, 16-thread processor built on 10 nm Ice Lake architecture for LGA 4189 sockets. It runs at a 3.2 GHz base frequency with a 3.60 GHz maximum turbo and includes 12MB of L3 cache. This unit suits single-socket or dual-socket servers handling virtualization, cloud workloads or database tasks.
The integrated memory controller supports DDR4 2933 across eight channels, capping memory bandwidth at that speed. PCI Express revision 4.0 provides up to 64 lanes for add-in cards, storage controllers or accelerators. Platforms requiring faster memory speeds, more channels or PCIe 5.0 connectivity cannot use this processor.
The part upgrades systems currently running lower-core-count Ice Lake or Cascade Lake CPUs where higher thread density and 140W thermal headroom improve consolidation ratios. It is not suited for workloads demanding more than 8 cores, higher base clocks or memory speeds beyond DDR4 2933.
