What this antenna kit does

This JacobsParts ANT-2DBI pack supplies two RP-SMA female dipole antennas built for 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi bands. They are designed to replace or upgrade the stock antennas on routers, wireless desktop cards, printers or AV receivers that use the same connector. The 2 dBi gain aims to extend range without requiring any software configuration.

Check the connector on your device

Verify that your router, wireless card or other equipment exposes an RP-SMA male jack before ordering. The antennas only fit that specific thread type; SMA, N-type or MHF/U.FL ports will not accept them. No driver installation is needed, but the host device must support the 802.11 standards listed for the frequency bands to benefit.

Heat, noise and power in use

As passive dipole elements the antennas draw no power and generate no heat or audible noise. They add roughly 4.25 inches of length per unit and rotate freely for positioning. Normal operation simply relies on the radio hardware in the host device, so thermals and acoustics remain unchanged from the equipment they are attached to.
