The Lite-On EBAU108 is an external DVD burner designed for laptops and compact desktops that lack an internal optical drive. It draws power directly from a USB 2.0 port, so no separate adapter is required. The slim 13.5 mm profile and 220 g weight make it easy to carry in a laptop bag for mobile professionals.

Burning speeds and disc support

Maximum write speeds reach 8× for DVD±R and DVD±RW, 6× for dual-layer DVD±R DL, and 24× for CD-R and CD-RW media. Reading tops out at 8× for DVD-ROM and 24× for CD-ROM. M-DISC support allows archival-grade recording on compatible media for long-term data preservation.

USB 2.0 interface and system limits

The USB 2.0 connection caps sustained transfer rates well below the drive’s peak optical speeds, so real-world burns run slower than the rated maxima.
