Yes, the board connects over USB and real-world throughput is limited by the 4G LTE network, not the USB link.

What physical space and antenna clearance does the dongle need?

It requires a USB-A port and room for the included LTE antenna; the GNSS antenna is sold separately and also needs clearance.

How is the board installed and which step is often missed?

Insert a 1.8 V or 3 V nano SIM, plug the dongle into USB, install the Windows, Linux or Android driver, then attach the LTE antenna — forgetting the antenna leaves the modem offline.
