Desktop boards and unbuffered memory are not compatible.

240-Pin DDR3L Platform Fit

Each module uses the standard 240-pin DDR3L form factor and requires a server mainboard that supports registered ECC DIMMs at PC3L-12800 speed. The kit frees two DIMM slots for future expansion while delivering the full 16 GB in a matched pair. Mixing with unbuffered memory will prevent boot. No heat spreader is fitted so airflow clearance is minimal.

16 GB Headroom for Virtualisation

Sixteen gigabytes across two ranks handles multiple virtual machines databases and file-service threads on the supported Gen8 platforms. Workloads that exceed this capacity will need higher-density RDIMMs or additional populated slots. The CL11 latency at 1600 MT/s matches the chipset's native memory controller rate.
