Straightforward DIMM installation

Each 240-pin RDIMM seats in the standard DDR3 slots of the listed blade servers. The registered design requires a server chipset that supports buffered memory; it will not work in desktop or unbuffered workstation boards. Mixing these modules with unbuffered DIMMs is not supported and can prevent the system from posting.

DDR3 1333 bandwidth and registered protocol

The PC3-10600 interface caps throughput at the DDR3 1333 data rate, which limits performance in memory-intensive workloads compared to newer DDR generations. Registered operation adds a clock cycle of latency, so applications sensitive to memory latency may not benefit fully from the capacity increase.
