The PNY CS2342 is an internal solid state drive built to the M.2 2230 form factor with a capacity of 1TB. It targets handheld gaming devices such as the Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally and MSI Claw as well as compatible laptops and desktops. The drive uses 3D NAND flash and connects through a PCI-Express 4.0 x4 link running the NVMe 1.4 protocol.

PCIe 4.0 x4 limits and thermal range

Sequential reads reach up to 7300 MBps and writes up to 6000 MBps over the four lane interface. The NVMe 1.4 protocol governs command handling and power management on the bus. Operating temperatures span 0°C to 70°C while storage temperatures tolerate -40°C to 85°C. The controller is rated for a mean time between failures of 1500000 hours.

Single sided board without heatsink

The module ships without a heatsink so it fits tight M.2 2230 slots where vertical clearance is minimal. A single sided layout keeps the profile thin for handheld motherboards that cannot accommodate double sided components. The M.2 connector provides both data and power without extra cables. Installation is a simple insert and screw step on any platform with a 2230 keyed socket.
