The Rosewill RSV-L4000U is a 4U rackmount case that fits eight internal 3.5-inch drive bays and three external 5.25-inch bays. It accepts ATX, E-ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards, making it suitable for home servers or small server rooms that need high drive counts in a standard rack footprint. Builders who need more than eight 3.5-inch bays or who require hot-swap backplanes will need a different chassis.

Drive capacity and motherboard support

The eight 3.5-inch bays are the defining specification; they set the maximum number of mechanical drives you can install without adding external enclosures. Seven PCI expansion slots and E-ATX compatibility give flexibility for add-in cards such as RAID controllers or additional network interfaces.

Cooling layout and included fans

Seven fans ship pre-installed: two 120 mm units at the front, three 120 mm units in the middle chamber and two 80 mm units at the rear. This arrangement pushes air through the drive bays and over the motherboard, keeping thermals under control in typical server workloads. CPU cooler clearance is 152 mm without the GPU holder fitted and 117 mm with it installed.
