The SoNNeT SA39-ADAPTER-US connects 2.5" or 3.5" SATA and IDE drives to a computer through USB 3.0 or Type C ports. It supports SATA I and II drives alongside 40-pin and 44-pin IDE devices such as optical drives. The kit includes a 12V power adapter for desktop drives. No drivers are required for operation.

Sustained Transfer Behaviour

The USB 3.0 interface delivers up to 5Gbps bandwidth with UASP support for efficient bulk data movement. Backward compatibility with USB 2.0 and 1.1 ensures function on older ports at reduced throughput. A built-in LED indicates power status during extended copy or backup sessions. Hot-swap capability allows sequential drive changes without rebooting.

Interface Practical Limits

Maximum signalling rate is capped at the USB 3.0 5Gbps specification regardless of drive capability. Actual throughput depends on the connected drive's native SATA I or II speed and the host controller performance. The 12V supply powers 3.5" mechanisms reliably but cannot overcome the protocol ceiling. Legacy USB 1.1 ports will restrict transfer to minimal rates.
