The Supermicro SYS-6048R-E1CR36N is a 4U rackmount system built for high-density storage workloads. It ships with dual Intel Xeon E5-2683 v4 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with 16 cores, and 64 GB of DDR4 ECC memory installed across 24 DIMM slots.

Installation Notes

The chassis includes 36 hot-swap 3.5-inch drive trays pre-fitted for SATA or SAS drives, allowing tool-less insertion once the server is racked. Two redundant 1280 W power supplies slide into the rear and lock with a lever, while the LSI MegaRAID 9361-8i controller occupies a low-profile PCIe slot. Front bezel and rack rails are not supplied, so you must source compatible rails for your cabinet depth and plan cable routing for the 12 rear bays before powering on.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Under continuous I/O the dual 145 W CPUs and eight-port RAID controller draw steady power, which the 80 Plus Platinum units handle without throttle. The X540 quad 10GBase-T ports maintain line-rate throughput for extended replication or backup windows, and IPMI 2.0 provides out-of-band sensor monitoring so fan curves and temperatures can be tracked remotely during multi-day jobs.
