The Synology DS423 is a four-bay desktop network-attached storage system built around a Realtek RTD1619B processor and 2 GB of DDR4 memory. It provides two 1GbE ports and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports for connectivity. The unit accepts up to four 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA drives to create a private cloud hub for file backup, media streaming, and surveillance footage storage. It supports up to 30 IP cameras for versatile video monitoring.

Moving from a single external drive or a two-bay NAS adds the ability to run RAID configurations for data redundancy while expanding raw capacity to 72 TB.
