The Synology RS822+ is a diskless 4-bay rackmount enclosure built for small to medium businesses and branch offices. It runs on an AMD Ryzen V1500B quad-core 2.2 GHz processor with 2GB DDR4 installed, expandable to 32GB across two SO-DIMM slots. Four 1GbE RJ-45 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one eSATA port and a PCIe Gen3 x8 slot provide flexible connectivity for storage and backup tasks.

Sustained throughput and expansion headroom

Sequential read and write throughput reaches 2103 and 1074 MB/s, supporting stable transfers during prolonged workloads rather than only short bursts. The unit draws 47.69 W during access and 16.7 W when drives hibernate, keeping power use predictable under continuous operation. Capacity scales to 72TB across the four bays, and an RX418 expansion unit adds four more bays for future growth without replacing the chassis.

Rack-ready build with service-friendly layout

The 4-bay form factor fits standard racks and accepts 3.5" or 2.5" SATA drives in hot-swappable trays for tool-less maintenance. Four Gigabit ports support Link Aggregation for failover and load balancing, while the PCIe slot accepts 10/25 GbE NICs or M.2 SSD adapters for cache. Dual power inputs accept 100-240 VAC, and Synology High Availability lets two units form an active-passive cluster for maximum uptime.
