DELL
Half-height blade server with dual 18-core Xeon Gold 6154 processors, 16GB DDR4, dual 960GB SSDs, H330 RAID and iDRAC9 Enterprise
SSD (Installed) 2 x 960GB SATA SSD
The PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade that fits the PowerEdge MX and M1000e chassis. It ships with two Xeon Gold 6154 processors, each 18 cores at 3.0 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo, and 16 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory. The platform supports up to 56 cores and 1.5 TB of memory per blade for scale-out deployments.
Two 18-core CPUs and the H330 controller draw power and reject heat through the enclosure's common cooling infrastructure, so blade-level acoustics and thermals depend on the chassis configuration. The installed 2 x 960 GB SATA SSDs and DDR4 DIMMs add minimal incremental load, while the Matrox G200 graphics subsystem consumes only a few watts.
A Broadcom 57810S-K dual-port 10 Gb daughter card provides high-speed fabric connectivity without occupying a mezzanine slot. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables full remote management, automation and firmware orchestration across the blade fleet. No operating system, front bezel or ready rails are supplied; buyers who need those items must source them separately.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
Slide the half-height blade into an empty bay until the latch clicks, then enable the server in the Chassis Management Controller so iDRAC9 Enterprise gets an IP address; skipping the CMC step leaves the blade invisible to the network.
The two 960 GB SATA SSDs and the system fans inside the chassis are the primary wear items; SSDs have finite write endurance, and fans accumulate dust, so plan drive health monitoring and periodic fan cleaning.
The blade's half-height form factor and shared chassis cooling cap sustained turbo; the system will throttle to 3.0 GHz base frequency once the chassis inlet temperature or power budget is reached.
