DELL
1U rack server with eight-core Xeon E5-2630v3 at 2.4 GHz, 24 GB DDR4, H730 RAID controller and eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays
HDD None
The Dell PowerEdge R430 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor running at 2.4 GHz with 24 GB of DDR4 memory in a 1U chassis. It is aimed at IT teams that need dense compute for virtualisation, database or web workloads in standard racks. The integrated H730 RAID controller supports RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 for local storage arrays.
The front panel accepts up to eight 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives that can be swapped without shutting down the system. A 550 W redundant power supply is installed and a second unit can be added for full redundancy. Two PCIe 3.0 slots provide room for additional network or accelerator cards. Four 1 GbE ports and iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller handle remote management out of the box.
The R430 replaces earlier 1U servers that max out at lower memory capacities or lack 12 Gbps RAID performance. Moving up makes sense when workloads need more than 16 GB of RAM per socket or require the broader RAID 50/60 options of the H730. It is not suited for buyers who want more storage bays than eight 2.5-inch slots provide or who need GPU-accelerated compute beyond the basic Matrox G200 video.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
The server has 12 DIMM slots, six per processor, and supports up to 384 GB total using 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB DDR4 modules up to 2400 MT/s.
One 550 W hot-swap power supply is fitted; the redundant design lets the second unit share the load, keeping fan speeds lower during all-day operation.
The chassis provides eight hot-plug 2.5-inch SAS or SATA bays, but drive trays, rail kit and bezel are not included and must be purchased separately.
