Tower server for small-office workloads

The Dell PowerEdge T430 is a 5U tower system configured with two Intel Xeon E5-2620 v4 processors running at 2.1 GHz. It ships with 384 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across twelve slots and eight 8 TB 7.2 K SATA hard drives managed by a PERC H730 controller. Dual 750 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC 8 Express remote management complete the package for file, print, mail or web serving in a single box.

Replaces older tower servers when capacity

The eight 3.5-inch drive bays and hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 let you consolidate storage that previously required multiple machines. Hot-swap power supplies and the H730 battery-backed cache protect uptime during drive or power-module failures. The jump is worth it when a workgroup needs more than 256 GB of memory or more than eight cores without moving to a rackmount chassis.

Fits a desk-side build

Twelve DDR4 slots are fully populated at 384 GB, so further memory expansion requires a platform change. The PERC H730 supports both SAS and SATA drives, allowing future replacement of the SATA disks with faster SAS models without a controller swap. Dual 1 GbE ports on the Broadcom 5720 LOM handle basic network connectivity, while the front bezel and plastic feet are not included in this configuration.
