The Intel 520 Series Cherryville drive provides 180 GB of MLC flash storage in a standard 2.5 inch form factor. It connects through a SATA III interface with a SandForce controller. Sequential reads reach up to 550 MB/s and writes up to 520 MB/s on a 6.0 Gb/s link. Random 4 KB performance hits up to 50,000 read IOPS and 60,000 write IOPS.

Fits 2.5 inch bays with 9.50 mm height clearance

The drive matches the industry-standard 2.5 inch footprint used by mechanical hard drives. At 9.50 mm tall it slides into most laptop and desktop drive bays without adapters. A SATA III host unlocks the full 550 MB/s read and 520 MB/s write ceiling. On a SATA II port speeds drop to 280 MB/s read and 260 MB/s write. No extra cables or mounting hardware are included in the bare drive package.

Sustained workloads within 0°C to 70°C operating

The MLC memory and SandForce controller maintain rated IOPS during extended write sessions thanks to built-in data compression and wear-leveling. End-to-end data protection and AES 128-bit encryption run continuously without throttling throughput. MTBF is rated at 1,200,000 hours. Out-of-the-box write bursts can reach 80,000 IOPS before settling to steady-state random write performance.
