Blade cooling relies on the shared M1000e or PowerEdge MX chassis fans, so the server itself adds no independent noise. Dual 18-core CPUs and 128 GB of DDR4 draw sustained power under load, while the PERC H330 controller and dual 960 GB SATA SSDs contribute modest incremental heat. iDRAC9 Enterprise provides remote thermal monitoring and power capping without a local display or keyboard.

Chassis integration and expansion

The M640 installs directly into a PowerEdge MX or M1000e enclosure, inheriting power, cooling and fabric connectivity from the chassis mid-plane. A Broadcom 57810S-K dual-port 10 Gb daughter card supplies high-speed networking. Two front-accessible 2.5-inch bays are occupied by the included SSDs, leaving no internal drive slots free. Sixteen DIMM slots allow memory growth to 1.5 TB, and the single PERC H330 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50 across SATA or SAS media. No operating system, bezel or rails are included.
