The Dell PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade server built for high-density data-centre deployments. It arrives with two Intel Xeon Gold 6230 processors running at 2.1 GHz with a 3.9 GHz turbo, providing 20 cores each for a total of 40 cores. The system includes 128 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 16 slots and supports up to 1.5 TB. Integrated iDRAC9 Enterprise enables remote management and automation.

Fits MX and M1000e chassis

This blade slides into a Dell PowerEdge MX or M1000e enclosure, sharing power, cooling and fabric with other modules. The on-board PERC H330 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50 across two 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drive bays. A Broadcom 57810S-K dual-port 10 Gb network daughter card provides high-speed connectivity. No front bezel or ready rails are included, and no operating system is pre-installed.

Sustained multi-threaded throughput

Dual 20-core Xeon Gold 6230 CPUs maintain 2.1 GHz base frequency under continuous load, with turbo headroom to 3.9 GHz for burst phases. The 2666 MHz DDR4 memory subsystem feeds all 40 threads with ECC protection for data integrity. Dual 10 Gb Ethernet ports sustain network throughput for virtualisation, private cloud and HPC workloads without saturating the fabric. iDRAC9 Enterprise monitors thermal and power telemetry around the clock.
