The Dell PowerEdge R530 is a 2U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 V3 eight-core processor running at 2.4 GHz. It ships with 128 GB of DDR4 memory installed across twelve DIMM slots and includes a Dell PERC H730 RAID controller with 1 GB cache. Two 300 GB 15K SAS drives occupy two of the eight hot-plug 3.5-inch drive bays.

Thermals noise and power

Dual 750 W redundant hot-swap power supplies provide fail-over capability for continuous operation in a 2U form factor. The server uses standard rack airflow from front to rear, and the included DVD-ROM drive adds minimal thermal load. With one CPU and twelve populated memory slots, power draw stays within the capacity of the redundant supplies under typical enterprise workloads.

Bundled controller and drives

The H730 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, letting you configure the two 15K SAS drives for performance or redundancy and expand across all eight bays. iDRAC8 Express is included for remote management, with optional upgrades to Enterprise and vFlash media. A Matrox G200eR2 video chip with 8 MB cache handles basic console output, and four 1 GbE ports on a daughter card provide network connectivity.
