A single Intel Xeon E5-2650 V3 with ten cores at 2.3 GHz and 24 GB of DDR4 memory powers virtualisation, database or file-serving tasks. Dual 750 W redundant supplies keep the platform running if one unit fails. The PERC H730 controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across SAS or SATA media.

Sustained throughput with 15 K SAS spindles

Two factory-installed 600 GB 15 K SAS drives deliver consistent random I/O under continuous load rather than only in short bursts. The H730's 1 GB cache absorbs write spikes while the 12 Gbps controller link prevents the bus from becoming the bottleneck. Twelve DIMM slots allow memory to scale to 384 GB when the second processor is added, keeping large working sets in DDR4 instead of paging to disk. Four 1 GbE ports on the daughter card sustain network throughput for multi-client access.
